Everyday Sexism Project and End Violence Against Women Coalition have launched an online petition, asking UK political party leaders to commit to making sex and relationships education in schools compulsory.
The petition currently has over 35,000 supporters, and thousands of tweets have been shared using #SREnow. Following this trend ViralFeminism launched its own online survey, collecting over 50 responses from a variety of age groups, ranging from 18 to over 40.
From those surveyed, 90% agreed that sex and relationships education should be compulsory in schools. While 87% had received some form of SRE in school, the focus was primarily on biology, puberty, and for some, contraception.
